Last day to submit paper tax returns

October 31st is the last chance to file your 2012/13 paper tax return, that is unless you are in a very exclusive group of individuals who get a dispensation. These include MP’s and spies, so if you’ve missed the deadline you better get in your application to MI5 or the Labour party quickly.

For the rest of us, we now have 3 months before the online filing deadline on the 31 January. If you’re planning on using HMRC’s filing software rather than an accountant you need to be aware that registering for it can take up to a week, as you have to wait for a letter with an access code to be sent out.
